College's Smal Business Development Center Hosting "SBDC Day" Networking Event on March 21

Second annual national celebration recognizes SBDCs' impact on country's small businesses

Article by: Melinda Eddleman

For nearly 40 years, the country’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network has helped aspiring and emerging small business owners achieve the American dream of entrepreneurship. Later this month, SBDCs from around the country are coming together to commemorate their impact on the success of our nation’s dreamers, innovators and doers – America’s small businesses.

That special day is “SBDC Day,” which is set for Wednesday, March 21.

It’s great to see SBDCs, their clients and supporters come together to celebrate SBDCs and their amazing clients. With SBDC support, small businesses around the country raised over $5 billion in capital and created nearly 100,000 jobs.
Charles “Tee” Rowe, President and CEO of America’s SBDC

SBDC Day is a national movement to help share small business success stories and the notable impact SBDCs have fostered in communities nationwide. With nearly 1,000 locations across the country, SBDCs provide local businesses and entrepreneurs with resources needed to succeed.

In 2016, America’s SBDCs provided 1.24 million hours of advising to 188,602 client businesses. That assistance resulted with 96,095 jobs created, $6.4 billion in sales growth, $5.16 billion in capital investments and 17,174 new businesses started.

As part of the second annual SBDC Day, the Del Mar College Small Business Development Center will hold a networking opportunity from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Center for Economic Development (3209 S. Staples). Attendees can meet with SBDC office staff, peers (fellow small business owners) and business groups.  A light breakfast and coffee will be available.

Space is limited, so RSVPs are requested by noon March 20 at www.seminarscc.com.

“We’d love for our local small business owners to take an hour out of their day to network and celebrate their hard work and success in the Coastal Bend,” notes Ann Fierova, Del Mar College SBDC director.
