DMC Continuing Education Offering Photography Course for Beginners

Interested in learning how to take those fantastic photos? Del Mar College Continuing Education is offering their course, Photography-Beginning, with two separate opportunites available at two locations, including the the Center for Economic Development and the Northwest Center in Calallen.

The course covers the basics of digital photography, camera functions, types of lens and how to make proper exposures. Participants also will review how to edit pictures using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop and receive an introduction in choosing recording media and filters, flash photography, production and retouching. The course also covers how to print, mat and frame photographs.

The two four-week photography courses are scheduled as follows:

  • PHTC-1004-18016 Photography-Beginning, Feb. 3 - 26, Monday and Wednesday,
    5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Room E109, DMC Northwest Center (13725 Northwest Blvd in Calallen)
     
  • PHTC-1004-18008 Photography-Beginning, Feb. 4 - 27, Tuesday and Thursday,
    5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Room 124, DMC Center for Economic Development (3209 S. Staples)

Classes are open to participants age 17 and up. Tuition for each course is $125. Students need to provide their own digital camera and digital storage device.

To culminate the learning process, participants will showcase the skills they have acquired during an exhibit that will open with a reception to celebrate their creativity. Date and Time of the opening will be announced later.
