Guest Sculptor Carlton Bradford Lecturing at Del Mar College Thursday, Jan. 31

During his 40-year career, Carlton Bradford has worked as an assistant to several professional sculptors in various media, including all aspects of foundry work, wood carving and fabricating as well as large-scale metal fabrication and installation. On Thursday, Jan. 31, the artist will share some of his techniques by presenting “Objectively Speaking on Sculpture” at Del Mar College (DMC).

Bradford’s own artwork has been widely displayed in several group and one-person exhibitions across the country.

The artist’s presentation begins at 11 a.m. in Richardson Performance Hall, located on the College’s East Campus at Ayers and Baldwin. For more information, call the DMC Art Office at 698-1216 or email art@delmar.edu.

While in Corpus Christi, Bradford will serve as this year’s juror and select the final pieces for the College’s 53rd Annual National Drawing and Small Sculpture Show. The exhibit, which features pieces from artists from across the country, opens Feb. 15.

Bradford earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in sculpture from the University of Arizona and a bachelor’s degree from Grand Canyon College in Phoenix. He currently serves as a faculty member at the University of Arizona in the 3D and Extended Media Division and teaches undergraduate and graduate classes with a specialty in metal and wood fabrication. Previously, he taught sculpture at the College of Marin in Kentfield, CA, and displayed his work with the Stephen Wirtz Gallery in San Francisco.
