Abracadabra! Continuing Education Offering Magician School for Adults

Article by: Melinda Eddleman

While you might not become the next Penn or Teller, David Blaine or David Copperfield or even another Houdini, you can still learn some magic tricks to entertain at birthday parties, nursing homes and hospitals or during community events. Del Mar College (DMC) Continuing Education is offering Magician School for Adults beginning Wednesday, April 4.

Participants will explore the world of performing arts through magic and will cover subjects ranging from magician rules, costume selection and skit development to paper, coin, string, puzzles, card, and every day object tricks. Just don’t share your magical secrets!

Classes run every Wednesday evening from 6 to 8:30 p.m. through May 2 at the DMC Center for Economic Development (3209 S. Staples). Tuition for Magician School for Adults is $60 with payment due at the time of registration. Students also are required to purchase the Magician Supply Kit ($30 plus tax and shipping) at www.magicemp.com.

The noncredit course is offered in partnership with “Valdino,” aka Orlando Valdez, a local magician who will provide instruction and your journey into the world of magic.

To register and for more information, contact the Center for Economic Development Business and Registration Office at 361-698-1328 or visit the Continuing Education website at www.delmar.edu/cce.
