Counseling Center Offering Services “Remotely” to DMC Students

Article by: DMC College Relations

Making a transition under conditions caused by the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) can be stressful. While Del Mar College’s campuses and facilities are currently under “restricted public access,” the College is still open for business “virtually,” which includes the Counseling Center with their services available to DMC students using remote methods.

Counseling Center staff are still available through email at dmccounseling@delmar.edu.

Currently, counselors are singularly focused on serving students who began counseling prior to Spring Break, which started March 9. All student clients are being contacted by phone and/or email to resume telehealth counseling as appropriate.

Additionally, the Counseling Center also is establishing an “online request for services” resource and will begin accepting new clients as soon as it becomes operational. DMC students are encouraged to follow @dmccounseling on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for self-help, community resources and emergency information.

For additional resources, visit the Counseling Center’s self-help page at www.delmar.edu/offices/counseling/self-help.html.

A few quick resources:

• Crisis Text Line: text “Home” to 741-741

• National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273- TALK (8255)

Remember, physical access to DMC campuses and facilities is restricted, BUT the DMC Counseling Center is available to students using remote methods. TOGETHER, we are all VIKING STRONG!
