Del Mar College announces Aug. 17 deadline to file for three Board of Regents seats in November 2020 general election

Nov. 3 ballot to include District 4 and two At-large seats

Del Mar College District residents interested in running for one of three seats on the Board of Regents in the November 2020 general election must submit a completed application packet by 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17. The first day to file for a place on the Nov. 3 ballot is Saturday, July 18.

The Del Mar College District includes all the area in the Calallen, Corpus Christi, Flour Bluff, Tuloso-Midway and West Oso Independent School Districts.

Application packets (PDF file), other resources and additional information are available online at https://www.delmar.edu/regents-and-community/board-of-regents/election.html. Individuals may also request a packet by emailing jaalaniz@delmar.edu.

Packets can be submitted by mail (Del Mar College, Attn: Jessica A. Alaniz, 101 Baldwin Blvd., Corpus Christi, Texas 78404-3897) or in person (Room 105A, Heldenfels Administration Building, Del Mar College East Campus, Ayers Street). Packets may also be submitted by fax at 361-698-2215 and must be received by the filing deadline.

In-person delivery of completed packets will be accepted July 20 through Aug. 12 (Mondays and Wednesdays only) between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. and on Monday, Aug. 17, from 7:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.

The health and safety of students, employees and guests remains a top priority at Del Mar College. Current protocols include required use of face masks or shields at all times while on campus.

In the Nov. 3 general election, district residents will elect Board representatives for College Districts 4 and two at-large positions. A link to the College District map (PDF file), showing the boundaries for these board seats, along with a list of the voting precincts in each district is posted on the Board of Regents Election page.

Regents elected in November will serve a six-year term, which ends in 2026.

The Del Mar College Board of Regents includes nine regents in a modified single-member district configuration. Five regents represent specific geographic districts while four serve at-large.
