Del Mar College Asking Community for Input on Rebranding Project

DMC renaming campuses, creating new logo design; virtual focus group sessions scheduled for March 30-31 with general public invited to participate

Article by Melinda Eddleman

Del Mar College (DMC) is moving forward into a new era. Refreshing the College’s logo design and renaming its campuses are part of a rebranding plan to update the institution’s image as DMC expands to Corpus Christi’s southside. Community input is an important part of the process during this initiative.

DMC officials are working with the College’s advertising agency of record, Anderson Marketing Group, and have already started gathering input from internal stakeholders. Now, it’s the general public’s turn.

“Community stakeholder input is invaluable to to our rebranding process, so the College hopes individuals can join us for any of the three public focus group sessions offered to support this initiative,” said Lorette Williams, Executive Director of Communication and Marketing, adding: “Everyone’s input will have a lasting impact for generations to come.”

Online focus group sessions are scheduled Tuesday and Wednesday, March 30-31, with the general public able to participate virtually during the following schedule:

  • Noon on Tuesday, March 30
  • 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 30
  • Noon on Wednesday, March 31

Participants will need to access sessions five minutes before they begin using links on the Rebranding Project page at www.delmar.edu/rebrand.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the rebranding process and provide input on various naming options for the three DMC campuses with the southside construction completed in summer 2022. The final names will be considered sub-brands of the College’s overall brand after the process concludes and the results are presented to the DMC Board of Regents for approval this August.

The process will not change the College’s name or its mascot, Valdar the Viking.

More details and links to the sessions can be found at www.delmar.edu/rebrand. Individuals may also submit questions about the DMC rebranding project by email to colrel@delmar.edu.
