DMC Board of Regents holding called meeting and public hearings August 24

Article by: College Relations

The Del Mar College (DMC) Board of Regents will hold budget and tax rate public hearings and a called meeting beginning at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, at the Isensee Board Room in the East Campus Harvin Student Center. Members of the public will be allowed to attend the public hearings in person and will be able to view the public hearings and called online. Public comments for the called meeting are by phone only. However, comments for the two public hearings will be handled by phone-in and in-person.

The public hearings and called meeting are scheduled as follows:

  • 11 a.m. Budget Public Hearing
  • 11:30 a.m. Tax Rate Public Hearing
  • 12 p.m. Called Meeting

Due to health and safety concerns related to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic crisis, these meeting and public hearings will be conducted in accordance with guidance from the Offices of the Governor and Attorney General.

Community members may access and view the called meeting and public hearings by going to the online video link at https://www.delmar.edu/webcast/ five minutes before each meeting or hearing. They may also call (toll-free) 1-877-568-4106 and enter Access Code 310-594-181 as early as 30 minutes before each meeting or hearing.

General and Agenda-related public comments may be provided by calling the same toll-free number and using the same Access Code used for listening to the meeting. Public comments for the two hearings will be heard after presentations to the Board are given. Public comments for the called meeting will be heard before the meeting begins.

Anyone wishing to make a “phone-in” public comment needs to dial-in between these given times:

  • 10:15 and 10:45 a.m. for the 11 a.m. Budget Hearing
  • 10:15 and 10:45 a.m. for the 11:30 a.m. Tax Rate Hearing
  • 10:15 and 10:45 a.m. for the 12 p.m. Called Meeting

Individuals need to clearly specify that their public comment is either for the 11 a.m. budget hearing, 11:30 a.m. tax rate hearing or the 12 p.m. called meeting.

Callers will register with a DMC staff member and provide their name and subject of their public comment, specifically if it is related to an Agenda item. The DMC staff member monitoring the toll-free line will mute all callers at the end of each call-in period and then provide registered callers’ names and subject to the Board Chair at the appropriate time. When called upon during the Public Comments segment of the called meetings or public hearings, registered callers will be unmuted and will have three minutes to make their comments.

Community members are requested to follow DMC COVID-19 safety protocols while on the Del Mar College East Campus.
