DMC Board of Regents Holding Public Hearing on Annexation by Election Petition to Bring Robstown ISD into College’s Taxing District

In-person and livestreamed hearing in Robstown set for 6 p.m. tomorrow, June 29

Article by DMC College Relations Office

The Del Mar College (DMC) District Board of Regents will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, at the Solomon P. Ortiz Intermediate School Cafetorium (208 E. Ave. H, Robstown, TX). The public hearing will cover the “Annexation by Election” petition the Board received related to the territory comprising the Robstown Independent School District (ISD) for inclusion in the College’s taxing district. DMC officials will present a proposed Service Plan should Robstown ISD voters approve the annexation in November.

The Agenda for the public hearing is available online at www.delmar.edu/regents-and-community/board-of-regents/_resources/agendas/public-hearing-packet-6-29-22.pdf.

Interested individuals may attend the public hearing in-person, or they can watch via livestream using the following link, www.delmar.edu/webcast/, by going online by 5:55 p.m.

The Del Mar College District is currently comprised of five independent school districts, including Calallen, Corpus Christi, Flour Bluff, Tuloso-Midway and West Oso.

On April 26, Del Mar College received petitions requesting an election on the question of the annexation of the territory encompassing Robstown Independent School District. Signatures on the petitions were verified by DMC on May 9; and on May 10, the College’s Board of Regents accepted the petitions and directed DMC staff to prepare a proposed Service Plan and arrange for a public hearing per Texas Education Code Sec. 130.065.

On June 2, staff completed and the Board approved the Service Plan and directed its publication. Specific details about the proposed Robstown ISD Service Plan are available online at www.delmar.edu/regents-and-community/board-of-regents/robstown.html, including:
