DMC Board of Regents Interviewing Three Candidates for Vacant At-large Seat During Called Meeting Open Session on Feb. 14

During the Jan. 31 called meeting, the Del Mar College Board of Regents selected  three candidates, who applied for consideration for the At-large seat left vacant by Dr. Linda Villarreal, to interview during the Board’s called meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Feb 14.  Dr. Villarreal’s resignation letter was accepted on Jan. 1; and on Jan. 4, the Board announced the appointment application process and deadline, which was noon on Jan. 27, for the vacant At-large seat.

The Board will hold interviews during Open Session on Tuesday morning, Feb. 14, beginning at 10 a.m.

Candidates include:

        • Dr. Anantha S. Babbili
            Former Administrator and Professor at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi 

        • Julio C. Reyes
             Former Executive with AEP Texas and Vice President of Business Development with Curtis Stout, Inc.

        • Denise Villagran
            South Texas Sales Director with 90 Degree Benefits, Third Party Administrator


The appointed individual will fill the At-large seat for the remainder of the term, which runs through 2024.

These candidates will be given the opportunity to appear for their interview in-person that Tuesday. Also during Open Session, it is expected that the individual selected by the Board will be sworn-in before taking their seat as a participant of the regular monthly meeting.

Interviews and the regular monthly meeting will be held in the Community Room in the Culinary Arts Building located on Del Mar College’s Oso Creek Campus at 7002 Yorktown Blvd. (78414). Get online directions and campus map.

Both the 10 a.m. called meeting for interviews and 1 p.m. regular monthly meeting also will be livestreamed. Community members may access those meetings by going to the online video link at www.delmar.edu/webcast/ by 9:55 a.m. and 12:55 p.m., respectively.
