Not too different from hitting a home run during baseball’s World Series, Del Mar College’s 30-minute conversational radio show and podcast, Viking Radio, will mark its 100th episode Monday, Oct. 12, during its airing on Retro Country 105.9 FM and 103.3 FM and Retro Tejano 104.1 FM.
Viking Radio airs from 9:30 to 10 a.m. weekdays locally and then anytime on Spotify and YouTube after each airing. Episodes are recorded and produced completely in-house with airings in partnership with Retro Radio and the Larry Elizondo Power Hour.

Monday, Oct. 12: 100 Episodes of Inspiration
• Guest: Dara Betz, Director of Workforce Programs and NCCER Accredited Program Director, with the DMC Corporate Services Department
• Description: It’s Viking Radio’s 100th episode, and Dara Betz from the College’s Corporate Services Department is helping the team celebrate. The chat will cover the world-class training, equipment and facilities available to industry partners on the Windward Campus that are helping move the Coastal Bend workforce forward. • Description: For anyone considering enrolling at Del Mar College for the Spring 2027 semester or who knows someone who is, now is the time to start registration. DMC marketing professionals Jason Houlihan and Christina Garza will discuss the streamlined process that’s making registration easier, plus the many educational options offered at the college ranging from degree programs to short-term workforce credentials.

• Description: Halloween and Día de los Muertos are approaching, and Viking Radio will talk with guests about some of the spooky festivities happening in the Coastal Bend, including Michelle Stapp sharing details about the creepy haunted house on the USS Lexington Museum each weekend through Halloween night, DMC faculty member Javier Morin breaking down the historical meaning of Día de los Muertos and Michelle Smythe with K Space Contemporary providing a preview of the annual Día de los Muertos Festival scheduled Oct. 24 in downtown Corpus Christi.
Thursday, Oct. 15: Lights, Camera, Career
• Guests: DMC Assistant Professor of Radio, Television and Digital Media Dr. Rachel Jennische and Eric Williams, DMC Radio & Television major
• Description: Coastal Bend students are finding DMC’s Radio & Television Program the perfect place to hone their talents and prep for careers in broadcast media. Faculty member Dr. Rachel Jennische will discuss the broad professional toolkit her program offers while student Eric Williams chats about the importance of storytelling in media and other valuable lessons he’s already using to build his career in radio.
Friday, Oct. 16: Jazz Fest at 65
• Guests: DMC Board of Regents At-large Regent Dr. Nicholas Adame and DMC Professor of Music Dr. Donald Pinson
• Description: The Texas Jazz Festival has been a Coastal Bend institution for 65 years, and DMC’s Heritage Campus is where it all began. Regent Dr. Nicholas Adame and Music Professor Dr. Donald Pinson will take a deep dive into this beloved annual event, covering its history, past and present exciting musical acts and the community’s love of the jazz genre that keeps the Texas Jazz Festival going every year. Additionally during this episode, Viking Radio’s Dr. Natalie Chapa will offer a heartfelt goodbye to Coastal Bend listeners as she moves on to her next voyage.
