DMC's Jeffrey Gutierrez Recognized as HR Practitioner of the Year
The people who help keep Del Mar College running don't always work in the spotlight. But their contributions are an important part of supporting the faculty and staff who serve DMC students every day.
One of those employees is Jeffrey Gutierrez, a Del Mar College Employment Specialist in the Human Resources department who was named HR Practitioner of the Year at the Coastal Bend Society for Human Resource Management (CBSHRM) Annual Conference on Sept. 24.
The recognition celebrates Gutierrez's leadership, work ethic and commitment to strengthening the human resources experience at the College.
Nominated by colleagues in Corporate Services and other areas of DMC, Gutierrez was selected for the recognition by CBSHRM, which reviews nominations of HR professionals representing different industries throughout the Coastal Bend.
In her nomination, Christine Benavides highlighted Gutierrez's efforts to improve hiring, onboarding and training processes, along with his commitment to mentoring and supporting colleagues.
“Jeffrey continually goes above and beyond in service to both the college and the broader community,” Benavides wrote. “His passion for Human Resources is evident in every interaction, and he demonstrates the qualities of an exceptional leader regardless of the challenges he faces.”
As a member of the Human Resources team, Gutierrez works in an area that helps support the College's employees and daily operations. That work is an important part of creating an environment where faculty and staff have the support they need to carry out DMC's mission.
His recognition also brings attention to the professionals working behind the scenes to support the College and its broader community.
For Del Mar College, Gutierrez's achievement is another example of The Viking Way in action, demonstrating how employees contribute to the institution through their work and professional commitment.
