If you’re thinking about “plugging in” or are already driving an electric or hybrid vehicle and want to take a look at what others cruise in, Del Mar College’s Environmental Management Committee is co-sponsoring a “Plug into the Wind” Car Show from 1 to 3 p.m. this Sunday, Oct. 1. The event is part of National Drive Electric Week with informational events scheduled all over the country, including Corpus Christi.

This FREE family-friendly car show, which will feature a variety of both fully-electric and hybrid vehicles and owners in the Coastal Bend, will be held at the DMC Center for Economic Development located at 3209 S. Staples (78411). Get online directions and map.

Marking the committee’s seventh year to hold the car show, their 2023 event also includes Lime, the world’s largest shared electric vehicle company, showcasing their affordable platform. The company also is sponsoring free food and refreshments.

Among the vehicles already registered for the show are Tesla Models Y and 3, a Chevrolet Bolt, Ford’s C-MAX Energi and Mustang Mach-E and a Polestar 2, along with other types of vehicles. Electric and hybrid vehicle owners, who want to show off their mode of transportation and share their experiences with others considering “going fully-electric or hybrid,” can still participate.

Vehicle registration is not required but appreciated. Go to the “Plug into the Wind” page on the National Drive Electric Week website at driveelectricweek.org/event?eventid=3782.

For more information about the event or to inquire about vehicle owner participation, contact DMC faculty and Environmental Management Committee member Teresa Klein at 361-698-1629 or tklein@delmar.edu.
