Become a Viking! DMC Rallying Up for Summer and Early Fall Registration

Article by: Melinda Eddleman

Valdar the Viking is rallying up for registration for summer and fall semesters at Del Mar College! He’s encouraging individuals planning to register for Summer Sessions I and II or Fall 2019 credit courses to take advantage of the College’s Registration Rallies scheduled April 1-4.

Research shows that students who register early tend to do better because they get the times they need and the instructors they want, along with having plenty of time to plan their schedules around work, classes and any other issues they may face while attending college. During our Registration Rallies, the College provides participants with the resources they need to complete admissions and financial aid applications as well as to register if their files are finalized.
Dr. Rito Silva, DMC Vice President for Student Affairs

Six rallies are scheduled at varying locations and times to meet busy schedules as follows:

  • Monday, April 1, 11a.m. - 2 p.m.            Harvin Student Center (East Campus)
  • Tuesday, April 2, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.          Harvin Student Center (East Campus)
  • Tuesday, April 2, 5:30 - 7:30P p.m.       Venter’s Business Building (East Campus)
  • Wednesday, April 3, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.     Health Sciences Complex, Bldg. 2 (West Campus)
  • Thursday, April 4, 11a.m. - 2 p.m.          Garcia Science Building (East Campus)
  • Thursday, April 4, 5:30 - 7:3 p.m.           Garcia Science Building (East Campus)

During each rally, participants can learn more about admissions, financial aid, student resources like the Viking Go app and other student services or receive advising before registering for courses. Onsite admissions and assistance with completing documentation will be available. Participants can get enrollment assistance with DMC representatives ready at computers to help with completing applications, registration and paying online.

The rallies also feature fun activities, food and giveaways! Individuals who register anytime April 1-4 can receive a FREE t-shirt (while supplies last) by taking their printed schedule to the Student Enrollment Center on the East Campus (Harvin Student Center) or West Campus (Coleman Center) or stopping by one of the rallies.

For anyone who can’t attend one of the Registration Rallies, don’t worry. The College’s registration period opens April 1 and continues throughout the spring and summer. Learn more about the different registration dates and deadlines at www.delmar.edu/registration.

Summer and fall are both good times to start working toward that certificate or associate’s degree for high demand jobs in the area’s workforce or earning the first two years of core courses transferable to a university for further study.

Classes begin May 28 for Summer Session I, July 8 for Summer Session II and Aug. 26 for the Fall Semester.
