Veterans Day Observance (Video) Featuring Message from the DMC Veterans Services Center

Video Produced by College Relations Office Digital Services
(Video located below)

A little history … Veterans Day was originally known as Armistice Day, which first celebrated the anniversary of the end of World War I with hostility forcers formally ending the war at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918 when the armistice with Germany went into effect. In 1954, the U.S. Congress changed the name of our country’s observance to Veterans Day, which annually celebrates and honors on Nov. 11 all military veterans who have served with the United States Armed Forces.

Veterans Day is distinct from Memorial Day, which honors those military servicemen and servicewomen who died during their service to the country. Veterans Day honors all military veterans, not just those who have fought in war.

Del Mar College thanks all of our student veterans, veterans who live in the Coastal Bend community and all veterans across the United States and around the world for your service and dedication to protect the freedom and way of life that our country represents.

As a current military serviceman or servicewoman, veteran or military dependent, you can also learn more about how the DMC Veterans Services Center can serve you during your pathway through higher education by visiting www.delmar.edu/offices/veterans/.

Below is a special message from the Del Mar College Veterans Services Center to honor all the veteran men and women who have served our country. Thank you!
