5:30 p.m. (FINAL UPDATE)


Del Mar College sustained minimal property damage as a result of Hurricane Hanna moving through the region over the weekend. All classes will resume Monday, July 27 as scheduled. College operations continue under Return-to-Campus Phase 2 conditions. 

College facilities remain closed to the public with restricted access allowed for approved employees and designated students. 

 

Sunday, July 26, 2020
11:25 a.m.

With the overnight passing of Hurricane Hanna, Del Mar College essential employees are currently working to assess campus conditions. The restoration of electricity and ensuring the campus is safe for return is the top priority for today.

The College  will continue to assess the situation and expects to provide an update regarding campus operations by 5 p.m. today.

Friday, July 24, 2020
7 p.m.

Due to hurricane conditions associated with Tropical Storm Hanna, the Del Mar College Crisis Management Team has decided to close all College facilities and cease all operations beginning at 9 p.m. tonight, Friday, July 24. All campuses will remain closed through Saturday and Sunday, July 25-26. We will provide an update on these conditions by noon on Sunday. 

We will continue to assess weather developments throughout the weekend. Please continue to monitor the College's website at www.delmar.edu, College social media sites or local news media for further updates. 

As always, we advise everyone to exercise appropriate caution for their personal travel and safety situations through this and all weather events. Please avoid flooded areas and roads – Turn around, don’t drown – and observe beach conditions, including riptides.

The Del Mar College Crisis Management Team met today, Friday, July 24, to assess weather conditions associated with Tropical Storm Hanna. We will continue to assess weather updates and monitor conditions throughout the day and weekend.

Currently, the College is maintaining Return-to-Campus Phase 2 conditions, meaning campuses are closed to the public with limited access for designated employees and students. Online classes and other coursework will continue as scheduled on Monday, July 27. Please continue to monitor the College's website at www.delmar.edu, College social media sites or local news media for further updates.
