Del Mar College employees potentially exposed to COVID-19

Provided by DMC College Relations Office

Yesterday, Del Mar College received information that an employee who had been working on campus with other employees was notified of a possible exposure to COVID-19. As a result, nine College employees have been asked to self-isolate.

While there is currently no positive COVID-19 test result, the College is following internal health and safety protocols. One employee will be tested for COVID-19 and eight others have been asked to self-isolate until results are verified. The area on campus in which the potential exposure occurred has been disinfected and is now available for use.

On Tuesday, May 12, the College faced a similar situation in which one employee was evaluated and four others were asked to self-isolate. After further evaluation, all five employees have now been cleared to return to work.

The health and safety of our students and employees remain our top priority at Del Mar College. All College facilities remained closed to the public at this time. Only restricted access for approved employees is allowed at this time.
