Quick Takes - January 2019

During a called Board of Regents meeting on Jan. 7, the Honorable Julianna Rivera swore-in Regent Elva Estrada, who was re-elected in November. She represents District 3 with her current term running through 2024. Regent Estrada was first elected to the Board in 2006. Active memberships she holds include the Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas; MANA, a national Latina organization; the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Council #1; Westside Business Association; and the Association of Community College Trustees. Congratulations goes to Kathryn Stone, Procurement Specialist with Del Mar College’s Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC). Stone earned the designation of Certified Procurement Professional (CPP) from the Association of Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (APTAC) in November 2018 and received her certificate during the association’s fall conference in Washington, DC. CPP is the highest certification awarded by the association. APTAC’s total nationwide membership is 615 with only 59 advisors to date who have attained this level of certification. The certification, along with Stone’s past experience as a Federal Contract Officer, allows DMC’s PTAC to provide services by an expert with knowledge of federal-level subject matter that many other centers cannot provide.
